I am not sure what the difference is of an open center valve.
I know that it stacks in series with the 3pt valve.
It doesn't have it's own return line but deverted to the tractor case. ....

Almost all compacts have open centred hydraulic systems. The pumps circulate oil continuously and the volume of oil pumped is reduced only during periods of heavy loads.
On such systems, valves must be used that return to an open position when the valve is not active. For a spooling valve that controls a two-way cylinder, that position is usually with the control handle in the centre of its range. ‘Open when centred’ may be a better description of such a valve. An open valve allows oil to flow freely from the inlet to the return port.
In typical open-centred hook-up, pressure runs from a high-pressure port on a manifold block to the inlet port (stamped IN or P usually) on a power-beyond valve. The power-beyond port on the valve either goes to the return port on the block and on the 3ph or to the inlet of another power-beyond valve. Power-beyond valves have two return ports (PB and tank). The tank, or low-pressure, return line runs directly to the oil sump.
